Hey gal pals! Recently I’ve been super into skincare so I began a nighttime routine that I LOVE and want to share with y’all! If you’re anything like me, sometimes going to sleep with makeup on just seems easier some nights, but trust me, I’ve lived that life, and the results never end well. Not too long ago, I remember feeling so confused about which products to use and what proper steps to take so I’m here to share with you 5 easy steps to a healthy nighttime skincare routine.
Step 1: Makeup Remover + Cleanser
Removing makeup with a great makeup remover is essential in erasing your eye makeup and lip makeup. My go-to for this is Clinique Take The Day Off Makeup Remover. This paraben, sulfate-free gentle remover dissolves the waterproof mascara and any long-wear kind of makeup in seconds and the best part is it doesn’t sting or irritate my skin at all! I highly recommend this for everyday use! BUY ON AMAZON.
Washing your face with a good cleanser has to be one of the most important steps to removing all the dirt, oil, and makeup off your face. This step is essential to healthy fresh skin. My first personal favorite cleanser is Mary Kay TimeWise Age Minimize 3D Cleanser. For starters, this smells AMAZING, like clean with a tint of fruitiness. This cleanser also includes a gentle exfoliate gentle enough to use twice a day! And the best part is that the exfoliate doesn’t strip away any natural moisture needed on your skin, it’s completely safe. I’m not kidding when I say that my face genuinely feels fresh, soft, and clean after use. .BUY ON AMAZON
Another favorite cleanser of mine is First Aid Beauty Pure Skin Cleanser. I have always been a fan of First Aid Beauty skincare and this cleanser was the first one I ever loved and used regularly, my favorite part is it’s vegan, gluten, and cruelty-free. I love that this takes off literally all of my face makeup effortlessly and it contains non-stripping, pH-balanced formulas leaving your skin natural and feeling fresh. I know some cleansers have that feeling of dry and tight skin after wash, but this one NEVER leaves your skin feeling parched. I swear by this cleanser. BUY ON AMAZON.
Step 2: Toner
This next step is essential to hydrating your skin, combatting acne/eczema improving skin texture and tone, and removing excess makeup. Rose Water Facial Toner is something I had heard a lot about from friends so I just had to give this shot and now I’m never going back to life without it! There are two ways to apply this rosewater facial toner, one is to wet the toner on a cotton ball and dab it across your face or you could, spray the rose water on your face and then dab with a soft cotton ball. I can’t tell you how many success stories I’ve heard and seen specifically from the rose water facial toner. Just last week I had a pimple on my right cheek and that night I applied the rose water to that area of my face and by morning it was significantly smaller! Within two days that sucker was gone! Insane. Now, you may be asking, why Rose Water Facial Toner and not just any other toner? Rosewater “has anti-inflammatory properties that can help reduce redness of irritated skin, get rid of acne, dermatitis, and eczema.” Lastly, it helps with anti-aging. BUY ON AMAZON.
Step 3: Serum
Serums are something that can sadly easily be neglected but let me be the first to tell you these are essential to your routine. The skincare benefits from serums are matchless, “face serums are lightweight moisturizers that penetrate deeper to deliver active ingredients into your skin.” Many celebrity makeup artists strongly believe in serums, because they give you a firmer, smoother look while minimizing the appearance of pores. My favorite serum to use is The Inkey List Collagen Booster Firming Peptide Serum. This does just what the title says and more! Everyone wants more collagen a.k.a tighter healthier skin so hop on the serum trend, you won’t regret it. BUY ON AMAZON.
Step 4: Moisturizer
When it comes to moisturizer I have two favorites. Mary Kay Timewise Age Minimize 3D Night Cream. Containing antioxidants, this makes my skin feel softer, brighter, and overall healthier. This is also great for all skin types, normal, dry or oily skin. BUY ON AMAZON.
Another amazing face moisturizer is First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream. This is a vegan cruelty-free and gluten-free moisturizer with shea butter and colloidal oatmeal. The shea butter has minerals and vitamins that help protect your skin and the colloidal oatmeal help relieve irritation/eczema or itchiness of the skin. I have dry skin and this has been clinically proven to help hydrate your skin significantly so this is my go-to especially during the winter. BUY ON AMAZON.
Step 5: Eye Cream
Eye cream is key to preventing dark circles under or around the eyes and it helps in preventing wrinkles. I used to never use eye cream until I received a sample and began implementing it in my routine. I have honestly noticed a huge difference, I have brighter, more hydrated skin and a less tired look. My go-to is First Aid Beauty 5 in 1 Eye Cream, this is vegan and cruelty-free and anti-aging so it’s perfect everybody! An important tip for applying eye cream is to use your ring finger. Your ring finger is the most gentle and since the skin around your eye is sensitive you want to make sure you’re gently applying the eye cream around your eyes. I like to apply two dots of the cream above my eye on my brow bone and three dots under my eye and gently rub the product in. I’d recommend doing this twice a day, before bed and in the morning. BUY ON AMAZON.
Pro Tip: Tea Tree Oil
The benefits of Tea Tree Oil are incredible, it’s an anti-inflammatory treatable for acne, scarring, redness, and inflammation. I use a roll-on tea tree oil used especially for the skin, careful not to use just the regular essential oil, use a specific one safe for your skin like this one. I like to apply this roll-on when I see a pimple and by morning it’s significantly shrunk in size and by a couple of days, it’s completely gone, without the hassle of having to pop it. I highly recommend this to anyone, you can apply this after your moisturizer as an add on step 6 of this nighttime routine if you have any inflammation, scarring or acne. BUY ON AMAZON.
I hope you found this helpful, I know I have personally seen a significant difference in my skin just by keeping this 5 (sometimes 6) step routine. Comment/let me know if you guys use any of these products and let’s connect!
